If you have been around Internet marketing for any amount of time, then I am sure you have heard of a firesale.

A firesale, or a dimesale is a product sales page that dynamically changes the price. The price continues to raise either after every sale or after so much time passes.

The theory is that the buyer feels pressured and makes a snap decision to purchase before the price goes up.

This method works great the first day….but after that the buyer knows that they missed out on the lower price and they will search the Internet to find it elsewhere.

Well, now I have found the perfect solution to this problem. I have been using an amazing pricing script, that allows my buyers to pick their own price for three weeks now on one of my OTO product sales pages and the results are spectacular.

That’s why I am writing this today, I have been getting “first day dimesale” results every single day for straight three weeks!

The logic behind this script is amazing….just like the stock market, the buyer can watch the price go up and down every time they refresh their browser. So, when they see the perceived low price they opt to buy it right then….

See the powerful difference? Instead of feeling pressured to hurry and make the buy, they actually want to buy it.

Some have even emailed me telling how much fun it was. Can you imagine that? A customer writing to tell me they enjoyed spending their money on my site!

The script automatically generates a PayPal button with a different price every time.

Ok, now if you have read any of my earlier posts, or if you happen to be on one of my list, then you know, I was recommending using the classified ads for list building and low price ebooks.

Well, never mind…

I visited the classified ads section this evening for the very first time, to learn more about it…

I got as far as the Fee schedule…

There is no justification for listing any low price, or list building mechanism that is worth a $9.95 per 30 day insertion fee.

Do you realize how many Ebooks you would have to sell….or how many leads for your list you would need to generate to justify that type of expense?

I think Adwords would be cheaper and that is saying a mouthful.

So for the record…I change my stance and see no reason what soever for using the classified ad section for digital products.

This leaves only two options the way I see it, either ship your products physically on a CD or just quit.

I will tell you this, I put far too much work into my Ebay business to just walk away, and I still strongly feel that there is a huge earning potential for just shipping your digital items out on CD’s.

Just as was predicted there is a great deal of anger among digital item sellers.  Numerous blogs and forums across the Internet are full of people spewing “unkind” words (keeping it clean )towards Ebay.

Personally, I see the good in this…granted we will all have to adapt and think outside of the box.  But there is a real opportunity to turn this into a profitable experience.

If you were a digital items seller that viewed Ebay as a loss leader and a lead generator like I did, then we need to come up with good opt in page and give away some of the same low price ebooks VIRAL ebooks that we were used to selling.

And I think that the classified ads section may still work for this….so while others are complaining, get to work on your optin page and get it out there before everyone else does.

Now on the other hand, high end and profitable packages and Ebooks will now be shipped out via snail mail.

There are numerous positives to doing this….all of which can put more money in your pocket.

I have came up with a system for selling my own high end products.  It includes autorun technology, so that the CD starts automatically when inserted in the CD Rom, it then shows a graffic, and loads a complete mini-site…that not only points the buyer straight to their product, but gives me an awesome chance to push an upsell, links back to my sales site, and entices them to join my list….With the addition of affiliate links, Google Adsense Code, and a Click Bank product…

I feel that this will be even more profitable than simply sending the buyer to a download page and hoping for an upsell there.

Think about it for a moment, why is the conversion rate so low on a download page upsell?  Because the buyer is there for only one reason….to get their product.

But, if the info was on a CD that they just paid for then they will keep your sales info in front of them for quite sometime.

Anyways, in closing…I just think everyone should quit trying to find a loop hole or a way to cheat the system and spend all that energy getting ahead of the game.

If there is one thing we all know, if you get caught cheating the big Ebay giant, they will shut you down quick and possibly forever.

In typical Ebay fashion, we have a ONE WEEK notice… Now I know the doom and gloom is going to start.  But this is just the nature of the Internet Marketing business. 

We need to be able to roll with the punches, while this may seem like a knock out blow….its really not.  We should look for answers and alternatives, because we all know that complaining to a SuperPower like Ebay is a waste of time.

So for starters, this only stresses a point that I have made clear to everyone I speak to….You must have your own Website to succeed online.  No longer can we use Ebay as the store front for our digital business.

We can still utilize the Ebay system by selling our digital products as a total collection offered on a CD, which in turn makes our products worth more to the buyer.

The whole automated portion of our Ebay business will be the most impacted….and we will have to come up with some solutions to that as well.

The bottom line is that we have a short week to figure it out…

After several years Online and numerous attempts at Internet Marketing, I have finally found what I believe to be the key to making money Online.

It’s actually quite simple, so what is the magic key?

Stop listening to the self proclaimed Guru’s and stop buying their Internet courses and their crappy Ebooks.

That’s it? That’s my advise you ask?

Well, theres a little more to it than that, but that’s a start….don’t get me wrong, some of these guys are good, and some are REALLY Good. However, I still say don’t buy their products. Now I know, I am going to catch some hell over this, because these guys really stick together.

Im sure that surely you have noticed just how much they stick together, they all promote each other’s products…just read of few of the testimonials most are from the same group of Internet Marketers, so where does that leave all of us, on the outside sending these guys our hard earned money.

So, now you may ask, well if they are that successful, why not buy their stuff and learn from them? The reason is simple, because they aren’t really telling you what works. Because what works is convincing you that if you buy this or that, you will make millions like they do.

What we need to do instead is COPY what they do, subscribe to their lists and when one of their emails comes through and makes you want to buy something…put your credit card back away and save that email. Study the message, the subject line, what made you want to continue reading it instead of deleting it? If you truly felt that the project was worth buying, then find out if you can join as an affiliate.

First things first, let get back to copying the gurus…

One thing each and every one of them has in common is a HUGE mailing list. If you are serious about making money Online then you too must have a list, and don’t worry it took them a long time to grow their list too, but starting sooner than later will only help you.

When I first started my list, I made an affiliate sale from an item I promoted about 2 weeks into my list building experience. I was so happy, because that one sale paid for my membership for the next three months. It was then that I began to “get it”.

After you create your list, you must nurture it and raise it like you would an infant; you must treat your list with care and respect. Share new things, events, and give them loads of freebies. In other words you must earn them. You must make them want to stay on your list, and listen to what you have to say. Make them want to save each of your emails. Make them feel like they simply can’t wait for your next one.

You can’t simply email them sales pitch after sales pitch or ignore them. Bottom line, take care of your list….because if you don’t then some guru will.

Ok next, something else every single one of them have in common, they all have a Website, some even have 100’s of them. If you do not have your very own Domain Name and Website, then once again, you are kidding yourselves. Now, I know there are some guru’s that tell you…You don’t even need a Website and you can make millions. But, did you notice that they themselves had one?

That’s why I can’t say this enough…STOP LISTENING TO THE GURUS. All you need to do is copy them.

Now that you have a domain name and a Website… you are creating a name for yourself. You are also creating credibility, think about it for a minute if me and you are selling the exact same product and your site is http://freewebs.com/yoursite and mine is http://mysite.com and the buyer contacts you at you@gmail.com and me@mysite.com

It’s a no brainer which one of us the buyer would feel more secure buying from right?

Ok, I’m sure you see the importance of having a domain name and a Website, so lets move on.

The final thing I want to touch on….is one other thing that every guru has in common, they all have their very own VIRAL product.

So what is a viral product? This is a software application or an Ebook that they either personally created or had made for them, that contains links to their “up sell” products as well as their Websites and of course their list.

So what makes that viral you ask? Well for one, they convince all of us to buy this product because it will make us rich, but then they get us to promote the product for them.

Next thing you know they have an army of affiliates selling their products for a few bucks….but more importantly to them, their product has just became viral…because as well sell it and the people we sell it to starts selling it, the next thing you know, everyone out there is on board and the “guru” can move on to his next product while to money pours in from affiliate sales, up sells, and his list gets fatter and fatter.

So while this was just a brief summary, I have just listed three things that every Internet Marketing Guru is doing consistently. The funny thing is that none of them are telling you that this is what you should be doing. I also know that a lot of these same Gurus will be writing me and telling me that what I am doing is wrong and that I am shooting myself in the foot. But, I don’t care…I was getting tired of spending all of my money falling for their games, thinking that I was going to make it this time, only to be let down again. This ones for the regular people out there like me, that simply want the financial freedom to work from home, spending more time with the family and making a living ETHICALLY Online.

404 Error Pages

So, let me first explain how this works.  If a visitor types

in the wrong address either on purpose or by accident and error page

will appear.  What I like to do is create a custom error page that

will send them to my sales page.

Heres what you need to do,

First create a custom error page for this example I created a new

page called sales.htm

Second open up notepad.exe (by clicking on start, then accessories,

then notepad) Now simply enter the following text:

ErrorDocument 404 /sales.htm

replace sales.htm with the name of your special page.

Third go to the top of notepad, click on file, click save as….

and call this .htaccess select where you want to save it to, change

the .txt extension to all files, by clicking the dropdown arrow now

click enter.

Last step, simply upload both the .htaccess file and your new page

to your root directory of your Webhost. 

The last thing I do to protect my files is by using SmartDD to handle the delivery…

You may ask, how will that help me? 

Well not only does an automatic delivery service watch for the correct payment, then automatically send preconfigured emails that contains download links and instructions, but they also, install a counter so that the link is only valid for x number of times AND it allows you to install the files outside of your HTML directory.  In other words the files cannot be accessed with a web browser.

When I decided to use one I priced several different companies Such as My Digital Dispatch and Payloadz Even though I joined each of them as an affiliate I am not going to include their links here. 

Why, because as i promised you from day one….I do not use either of them, so I will not try to convince you to use them if I don’t myself.

I use SmartDD still to this day, and absolutely love it.

Their full version is a fraction of the cost of the other two I

mentioned above and the affiliate commission is not even half.

What does that mean?  That means that I could have made a lot more commission money if I tried to get you to subscribe to one of the other programs.  I don’t care about that, I would rather be upfront and honest with you.

Now, there is a question that I am getting asked all the time, do I really need my own website to be successful online?  The short answer is most definitely YES.

However, I will go into greater detail for you. Its all about

credibility and trust.  Here I am talking about things like:

a proper domain name, real web hosting and an auto responder. 

If you’re just trying to get by, for example, a free web host,

you’re leaving a lot of sales on the table.

The reason is that the perception of credibility is a big factor

when it comes to what influences your customer’s buying decisions.

It’s also a matter of targeting.

Seriously, if you are building an online business, you have to have

a website of your own.

Forget about the stories where people make a fortune using Adwords

and straight affiliate promotions.

The truth of the matter is you must have a website of some kind in order to really make it online. You can start out with free web

pages or with your own lens on Squidoo, but your business will grow faster when you have your own website.

Let me put it this way. Without a website of your own, you will have tremendous difficulty in accomplishing the following pieces of building a business online:

-              Building your list

-              Selling affiliate products

-              Selling your own products

-              Delivering your own products

-              Establishing your credibility as an expert

The exceptions to this would be people who wish to generate all of their income from one network marketing company or from selling on eBay - and even then, having your own website (and not just the replicated site your company gives you) provides a tremendous advantage over your competitors. 

Think about this example: let’s say you’re searching for a “dog training” e-book. Which URL would you rather visit?

You’d go to the second one, right? Just looking at the URL you’d

intuitively believe you’re going to find something close to what

you’re looking for there.

Ok that’s enough rambling for now….Hopefully I have at least

convinced you that you MUST have your own Website if you want to be

successful online…

I know you have all heard that old saying somewhere before…”the money is in the list”  I’m guessing that its true, because although all of the self proclaimed gurus told me to start my mailing list, I waited until I had everything else in place first and started my list last.

Maybe they were right, that explains why I wasn’t making much money Online. 

Now I am concentrating on building my list and it seems to be working quite well.  I have tried numerous things to build my list quickly and nothing was worth bragging about, until now.

You see, I started offering a weekly giveaway….every week I would give my subscribers a new free ebook.  I promoted it every where, it was on all of my download pages, my About Me page on EBay, forum signatures…you get the idea, it was everywhere I could think to promote it.

Well, a few subscribers trickled in each week, but I wasn’t seeing the kind of results that I expected for as much work as I put in it (Return On Investment)

I then tried an opt in for my EBay products on my download page, that just created confusion and emails from buyers saying that they didn’t receive their products after subscribing, they missed the actual download link.  So obviously, that didn’t work and I have since revised all of my download pages.

So what works?  What is the easiest way to get new subscribers?
